Chapter 9: Nimbasa City, Part 1

"Okay, I have officially made up my mind about this, Drake." Hana said in her Human forme. She was looking over a map of some sort. Kitty (also as a Human) was looking over her shoulder. "We have to totally take the Battle Subway and make our way to Nimbasa City."

"That's fine Hana, except it involves a lot of battling. I'd need you two to stay as Pokemon the whole time on the train. When you aren't in your Pokemon formes, your bodies are just like zombies." Drake said, brushing some of his black hair out of his eyes. Absol, who was sitting at Drake's feet, intensely watching Hana carefully, nodded his agreement. He knew no matter how strong he was, he couldn't take care of seven battles all on his own.

"Awwww but then I won't be able to enjoy the view from the train!" Kitty whined.  Everyone looked at her and she then went POP! back into her Pokemon forme, showing that she was giving in to what they wanted.

"Besides, kid, this is a good way for you to train." Hana said, petting the Skitty between the ears. "You've got to become more stronger to protect yourself."

Absol nodded again. Hana was right, Kitty needed more training. She just enjoyed using random moves, and whatever worked, worked. But that wouldn't do in the long run, against stronger trainers. And for some reason, Absol felt as though they would be facing very hard battles in the future, but he couldn't explain why he was having these feelings.

"Alright Kitty, use Tackle!" Drake called out as Kitty defeated the last trainer's Butterfree. Kitty was tired; she battled most of the train by herself, only having fainted once and then Hana had to be called out. Hana and Absol watched from afar.

"She's done well. She battled almost 19 Pokemon on her own with only a few rest breaks. You have to admit, your battle style rubbed off on her." Absol said.

"What would you understand about my battle style?" Hana growled. She was uncomfortable around Absol now that she was back in her Shiny Umbreon form. Her blue rings glowed more intensely with  her anger. "But anyway, you are right about how good the kid did. Did you notice how she learned a new attack? She learned Faint Attack. But she'll never become as strong as me."

"Why do you care so much about power, Hana?"

"Why are you so nosy?" Hana retorted. "I care about power because power means I am strong. And the stronger I am, the more reliable I'll be. I won't let others down." She nearly said "I wont let the kid down", but she caught those words. Hana wasn't sure why but she felt like she had to protect Kitty. Kitty was important to her, in a way. She just wasn't sure what this feeling was.

Kitty teetered over and collapsed in front of Absol and Hana. "I am so tired out! And there's only one thing in the world that can rejuvenate me!" She sniffed and looked at the trainer she just finished battling against. "He has a bag of M&M's in his back left pocket, nyah, but I'm too tired to go for it."

Hana was amazed. "And you know that how?"

"I can smell it." Kitty gave a grin. "I know what I'm smelling for."
